Nutreince is back in stock and has a new and improved formula! In this blog we are going to explore why we needed to change the formulation and discuss how we improved it.

This story begins back in 2016 when the FDA, unbeknown to most, changed the RDI (Recommended Daily Intake) and Daily Values, to, as they stated, “reflect current scientific information.” In doing so they reduced, and in some cases drastically reduced the then current Recommended Daily Intake levels of essential nutrients considered to be sufficient to meet the requirements of 97-98% of healthy individual. This was the first change to the RDI since 1968 and we, like all supplement and food manufacturers were required to change our labels to reflect these new changes by January 1, 2020 for large companies, and by January 1 2021 for small companies like ours.

Since it has always been our stance that a supplement, like nutreince, should always be just that, a supplement to a healthy diet, not a substitute, we changed our formula to reflect these new RDI levels, lowering many of the essential micronutrients to reflect the new changes based on current scientific information. Now, we had been manufacturing nutreince since 2011, so we had 10 years of blood analysis on the micronutrient sufficiency levels of the people who had been taking nutreince with our old formula – the one based on the original 1968 RDI regulations. So, it was very surprising to us when individuals taking the new formula we created to reflect the new 2016 FDA change, which we brought out late 2020, were coming back deficient in several of the micronutrients that they were previously sufficient in. To make a long story short, these deficiencies were not just a fluke or because a few people were taking nutreince incorrectly – these deficiencies were a direct result of the 2016 FDA reduction of the RDI and DV levels. When we realized this, we immediately started to work on a formula that would fix this problem and deliver sufficiency for our customers.

In our earlier books such as Naked Calories and The Micronutrient Miracle we had suggested that the multivitamin that you want to look for would be one that delivered approximately 100% of the RDI for each essential micronutrient with an exception for vitamin D (which we have always had at 2000 IU) and calcium (which can only be absorbed at 500 – 600 mg at a time) As well as one that could be taken multiple times throughout the day, due to water solubility and the body’s limited absorption capacity. Yet by making these changes we were going to have to break our own suggestion and raise the amount of certain micronutrients over that of 100% RDI to allow for sufficiency. So, we decided to simply go back to the original formula using the 100% RDI levels of the 1968 FDA regulations. These were found to be safe for over 50 years, they were used by hundreds of millions of people, and we knew that thousands of individuals who had taken the original nutreince formula for over 10 years had come back sufficient time and time again in these essential micronutrients.

Here is the breakdown of what has changed in the NEW NUTREINCE FORMULA powders and capsules:

• We increased vitamin B1 (thiamine) from 1.2 mg to 1.5mg a 25% increase – now 125% DV
• Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) was increased from 1.3 mg to 1.7 mg a 30% increase – now 130% DV
• Vitamin B5 (pantothenate) was increased from 5 mg to 10 mg a 100% increase – now 200% DV
• Vitamin B7 (biotin) was increased from 30 mcg to 300 mcg a 900% increase – now 1000% DV
• Vitamin B12 (methyl cobalamin) was increased from 2.4 mcg to 6 mcg a 150% increase – now 250% DV
• Zinc was increased from 11 mg to 15 mg a 40% increase – now 140% DV
• Selenium was increased from 55 mcg to 70 mcg a 40% increase – now 140% DV
• Chromium was increased from 35 mcg to 120 mcg a 240% increase – – now 340% DV
• Boron was increased from 2 mg to 4 mg a 100% increase.

The other change that you will notice is that because there was such a large demand to have an iodine free nutreince, we decided to make the capsule formula iodine free. This greatly helps those individuals with Hashimoto’s and others who have been cautioned to take less iodine for medical reasons. Remember, this is in for the capsule formula, all nutreince powder formulas still contain the full 150 mcg of iodine in the form of potassium iodide. However, in this new formula all the nutreince powders have the full 150 mcg of iodine in the AM dose of nutreince and none in the PM. We hope this helps those who may still want to take a powdered nutreince at least once a day – they can take capsules in the AM and a flavored or unflavored nutreince powder in the PM.

It has always been our goal to create the absolute best multivitamin possible. One that would provide the essential micronutrients needed to create sufficiency in a way that can easily be absorbed. Nutreince is the first and only multivitamin granted a US patent for formulation – this was granted based on our unique and exclusive Anti-competition technology. This separates the know micronutrients that compete for absorption making it easier for your body to absorb and utilize the essential micronutrients it needs to stay healthy, prevent disease and help to build a strong immune system.

As for the delay, again, no one could possibly be happier than us that the nutreince powders are all going to be in stock shortly. Changing the formulation was a huge overhaul as it required a great deal of testing as our manufacturing facility is FDA regulated and must follow the GMP (good manufacturing practices). Once approved, we then had to make test batches to ensure the flavors had not been altered, and make adjustments where necessary. Then with the larger amounts of nutrients came the more filled individual sachets, and then finally the fact that they wouldn’t fit neatly into the boxes. As we stated in the email, because of more powder in the packets, the packet take up more room in the box and as a result many of the boxes are misshapen or bulging.

We are very sorry about this, but this is just visual. We promise. When we realized this issue, we had to make a decision to either stop packaging, figure out a new box size that would work, have new boxes designed and made and then try to get back into the line for packaging – which could have taken months – OR, to move forward with the tight boxes so that we could get nutreince to you as soon as possible.

We chose the later. So, if what the boxes look like is important to you, you may want to order the nutreince capsules. The new formulation itself is great, and we are very excited about it. And please don’t be worried by the slightly disheveled look of the box and packets. As with all of our Calton Nutrition products the new nutreince powders have all undergone mandatory testing for safety and potency.

If you are waiting for the other flavors – the nutreince natural, the nutreince vanilla/chocolate, and the nutreince lime/berry, they should be coming in one flavor a week for the entire month of August, in the order that we have them listed.

We are now, as always, dedicated to helping you improve your health through micronutrient sufficiency and will continue to make improvements to nutreince as is required to achieve our goal. Thank you for the years of support – it means the world to us. Enjoy the new formula!
